This chapter discusses the manipulation of familiar stereotypes that are connected with both the Celluloid Princess and the Sexualized Maiden. The hybrid Celluloid Maiden of the 1970s emerges as a symbolically modified offspring of the previous Princess figures. It is also presented as a beautiful and sexually uninhibited woman who woos her husband further into “savagery” and the wilderness. Although her sexuality is her filmic cachet, it often accentuates negative racial stereotypes about Native American women's sexuality.
