This chapter discusses Henry Rosemont's approach to Leibniz and his perception of the latter's philosophical and political role in his period. It briefly summarizes some of the main arguments in the writings of Leibniz on China, especially his famous “Discourse on the Natural Theology of the Chinese.” The chapter ends by offering some afterthoughts on the prospects of global ecumenism as envisaged by Leibniz and Rosemont.
