Nancy Winstel joined NKU’s first women’s basketball team in 1974–75, never having played on a basketball team before. More than 30 years later, her career average of 8.3 rebounds per game remains third in school history. Shooting free throws was more of a challenge, but she improved greatly during her senior year. Her win-loss percentage as a player at NKU (75.9 percent) is only slightly ahead of her current career record as a coach at NKU (75.7 percent). In both rebounds and points per game, she put up impressive targets for her current players to shoot at.
