The nation’s bicentennial in 1976 seemed to stimulate the compilation of many cookbooks, as did Kentucky’s statehood bicentennial in 1992. In addition, many other state, school, county, and church anniversaries were commemorated by the publication of cookbooks, many of which contained recipes for iconic and traditional Kentucky dishes. Along with these community cookbooks, many single-author cookbooks with robust narratives included some culturally iconic recipes.
