This chapter discusses the continuation of Robert Williams' regime as the governor of the Natchez District. It discusses his strongest critics, the Greens of Jefferson County and the longtime residents of the district. It follows the criticisms of these two parties against Governor Williams, even of his selection of a new secretary. It also looks at the period of unrest along the border and the approaching crisis with Spain, which was due to the Louisiana Purchase.
