This chapter reveals Mae Murray’s slow decline following a 1960 stroke and how actor George Hamilton’s family came to her rescue. The chapter explains Murray’s last quest for a comeback as she took a long bus ride from Los Angeles to New York. Thinking she was in New York, Murray stepped off the bus in St. Louis, Missouri. She became lost and confused before being rescued by the Salvation Army and returned to Los Angeles by plane. The chapter covers Murray’s 1965 death at the Motion Picture Country Home and recollections by writer Dewitt Bodeen and actress Louise Brooks.
