This chapter focuses on Mae Murray’s development as a film star. Her famous temperament comes to life and she takes more control over her films. When scenes from The Primrose Ring were edited out, Murray hopped a train for New York, where she went through trashcans and salvaged her work. She severs her contract with Famous Players Lasky over the wedding dress she had to wear in At First Sight and joins Universal Studios. In this chapter, her obsession with close-ups emerges.
