In 1926, John Gilbert costars with Greta Garbo in Flesh and the Devil, and the two embark on an affair that sets Hollywood on its ear. Background on Garbo, and the truth about the supposed "broken engagement" in Sept. 1926 that led to a much-debated fistfight with Mayer. This was, according to legend, the beginning of the end for Gilbert at MGM.
