Losing Vietnam: How America Abandoned Southeast Asia

Abstract

This book chronicles the efforts of U.S. military and State Department officials after the official ceasefire in Vietnam who argued that severe congressional budget reductions would lead to the ultimate defeat of both Cambodia and South Vietnam. It details the catastrophic effects of reduced funding and of conducting “wars by budget.” These reductions portended the ultimate defeats of both South Vietnam and Cambodia and although the warning signs of potential collapses were definitely evident and reported by USSAG, they were generally ignored by superior headquarters.
