This chapter discusses the Wades’ attempts to save their marriage and boost their finances by relocating to Hawaii, along with Ann’s project “Historical Digest,” a multivolume history of the world intended for the educational market. Unfortunately, old patterns in the Wade marriage emerge, leading to Ann’s continued alcohol abuse and efforts to leave him. Also discussed is the reparation of her relationship with Anna Lehr along with Lehr’s and Wade’s deaths.
