(p.303) Epilogue
Ann Dvorak

Christina Rice

University Press of Kentucky

This epilogue discusses how Ann Dvorak became a relatively forgotten public figure after her retirement and explores possible reasons for this. Also covered is her reemergence into popular culture as her films have become more readily available, especially those of the pre-Code era, which has developed a loyal and ever-growing fan base. This rediscovery of Ann has made it easier to establish what her legacy is within the bigger landscape of Hollywood’s golden age. Finally, “what ifs” of Ann’s early career are broached in an effort to determine if she would have had a more high-profile career had she not taken actions that instead rendered her Hollywood’s forgotten rebel.
