This chapter charts Rex Ingram and Alice Terry’s departure to Nice on the French Riviera financed by MGM. It describes the setting up of Rex Ingram Studios at the Victorine and the first film made there—Mare Nostrum (1926). It also describes the young Michael Powell’s apprenticeship under Ingram and Ingram’s friendship with F. Scott Fitzgerald.
