This chapter follows Walters’ early stage work in Hollywood, his friendship with Lorenz Hart, and his arrival in New York. It looks at the 1933-34 Broadway season; musical revue shows are discussed, as is the rise of supper club dance entertainment. The chapter focuses on the creation of New Faces of 1934, and Walters’ dance partnerships with Dorothy Fox (with whom he appeared as the dance team “Fox and Walters”) and Imogene Coca.
