In this chapter, Walters’ tries his hand at directing a physiological drama, Two Loves (1961) starring Shirley MacLaine. On-going concern from studio chief Sol C. Siegel eliminates a sexually-charged dream sequence and the film is a box-office failure. Chapter 24 also looks at Walters’ un-credited direction on Anthony Mann’s Cimarron (1960) and the provocative Go Naked Into the World (1961). The break-down of the Production Code is explored. Walters signs a new five-year contract with M-G-M.
