The chapter deals with the Iraqi war plan and their war objectives towards Iran. It describes the theatre of war in the different sectors along the border between the two countries. The ground forces deployment and the plan of the ground attack, as well as the plans of the air and naval arms. It deals with the Iraqi decision to declare war on Iran and the resulting preparations toward it, and the phases of the war. It describes the Iraqi Army’s first military operations—liberating the border enclaves (7-21 September 1980).
