A President’s Commitment

(p.143) 14 A President’s Commitment

James W. Pardew

University Press of Kentucky

Pardew moves to the State Department to take over the most controversial element of the US effort in Bosnia—President Clinton’s commitment to provide military assistance to the Federation, consisting of Muslims and Croats in Bosnia. Pardew leads an interagency team with a charter from the Deputies Committee to implement the Train and Equip (T&E) project. Breaking the relationship between the Sarajevo government and Iran and other Islamic extremist groups is one condition for implementation of the T&E Program in Bosnia.

Keywords:   controversial, commitment, military assistance, Federation, interagency, charter, T&E, Islamic extremist
